Input for schools

I work closely with nurseries, schools and colleges to support children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).  Details of the assessments and therapy I offer can be found here.

In addition, I offer flexible input directly to nurseries or schools.  This may involve a stand alone project, such as a training session or audit, or regular support, such as a scheduled half day of input a week.

I have experience working alongside SENCos, teachers, teaching assistants and educational psychologists in education settings across the age range. Examples of input I have offered include:

- Assessments: Individual speech, language or social communication assessments, including assessments to support EHCP or Annual Review processes, or to support applications for examination access arrangements.

- Therapy: Individual therapy blocks focusing on speech production, language development, or social communication skills (carried out in person or online) and group therapy sessions focused on language development or social communication skills.

- SLT programs: Working alongside Teaching Assistants to create, model and review targeted SLT programs carried out at nursery or school.

- Training sessions: Stand alone training or a series of sessions focused on understanding specific aspects of SLCN and supporting children in classroom settings.

- Communication Audit: school-wide audits that identify current good practice and areas for development in creating a 'communication-friendly' environment for students with SLCN.

- Attendance at meetings: for example, IEPs, Annual Reviews, and multi-disciplinary team meetings.

- Liaison and consultations: around the needs of specific children.
